Initially, this body of work was simply intended to make the viewer feel as uncomfortable as possible. These images do still feel particularly successful in this regard. However, since living life as a woman, this series has found itself seeking some recontextualization. Many of these images were photographed in situations or places of particular discomfort. At the time of making this work, this seemed like the most apparent way to make the viewer uncomfortable and uneasy. But truthfully, I was putting myself in these situations because I did not care for my own body. I had no interest in self-preservation. Since beginning my transition, I have developed a newfound love for myself and body, and have not forced myself into such situations of great discomfort.
